CSV comparison

Compare two CSV files by a shared ID. See what’s new, gone or changed.

Choose a unique ID such as a product SKU. Values are compared exactly, including spaces and leading zeros. Only columns present in both files are compared.

What counts as a change?

Added or removed

A record ID appears in only one file. The report includes the complete record in its before or after column.

Changed

The same ID exists in both files, but a shared column contains a different value. The report shows one row per changed field.

Ambiguous IDs

Blank or duplicate IDs stop the comparison. Choose a genuinely unique key or clean up those records first.

Column names are trimmed; cell values are kept as text. Missing trailing cells are treated as empty text. Numbers and dates aren’t normalized. This is a file comparison tool, not a guarantee that another service will accept an import. Keep backups before making changes. Spreadsheet apps may auto-convert numeric-looking IDs; import those columns as text to preserve leading zeros.

Empty physical lines are skipped; explicitly empty CSV records are retained. Record numbers refer to data records after skipped lines.
